Ruth Asawa’s works are aesthetically beautiful. It is incredible how she change can turn wire into delicate sculpture. It is almost like a weightless floating nest. I enjoy seeing the sense of motion, repetition, connections, circles within circles. I also admire her courage and strength after knowing her background. Her journey of how she experiments with materials was fascinating. She believes artists should become the background behind the material.
I am referencing Ruth’s repetitive gesture, the materiality in her work, the discussion between art and craft, as well as her experimental studio practice.
